Many years ago, an Open Care Center for the Elderly (KAPI) started operating in the Municipality of Vathy. It is located at 3 Man.Kalomiris street.
Its purpose is the prevention of biological, psychological and social problems of the elders, so that they can play an active role in society, and the collaboration with agencies which deal with their needs and problems.
The elderly, members of KAPI, find a friendly, pleasant environment, where they can have a cup of coffee, chat with their friends and play table games.
The Center has a Social Worker, a Physical Therapist and a Family Assistant, who offer their services to the members with generosity and willingness. It organizes excursions, entertainment nights, bathing in the sea during the summer and various other events. Its members also participate in a «walking group» and a «sports team of the Third Age».
The Center is administered by a Board of Governors which is composed by the President - the Mayor or the Vice Mayor, who is appointed by the Mayor - and 6 members.
